How to Enable Community Page / Property Listing Detail Page Cross-Linking
Link neighborhood or subdivision names on property detail pages back to their corresponding content pages to improve UX and SEO.
Why This Feature Matters
Cross-linking between listing detail pages and community content pages improves the user journey by providing contextual neighborhood insights directly from property pages. It also enhances SEO by strengthening internal linking and driving more traffic to your content-rich community pages. This ensures users discover relevant details about the area without needing to navigate away or search manually.
Step-by-Step Instructions
-
Log in to the Admin Area
Sign into your Sierra Interactive admin dashboard.
-
Access the Content Manager
Click the “Content” button in the main navigation. This will bring you to the Manage Pages screen.
-
Select the Page to Cross-Link
Find and click on the content page you want to connect—this might be a subdivision, neighborhood, city, or county.
-
Locate the Cross-Linking Section
In the page editor, scroll up until you see a section labeled:
“Community Page / Property Detail Cross-Linking”
-
Search for the Matching Community Name
-
In the input field, begin typing the name of the community you wish to link to.
-
A drop-down will appear showing matching names grouped by type (e.g., Subdivision, City, County).
-
-
Select the Appropriate Options
-
Click on the correct community name(s) to add them.
-
If multiple variations exist due to different agent input (e.g., “Bear Hollow” vs. “Bear Hollow Subdivision”), select all relevant options to ensure full coverage.
-
-
Important Note About MLS Listings
-
The options available in the drop-down are sourced from currently active MLS® listings.
-
If the community you’re looking for doesn’t appear, it may not have any active listings.
-
You’ll need to wait until at least one listing in that community becomes active to enable the link.
(An update is coming soon that will remove this limitation.)
-
-
Save Your Changes
Click the green “Save and Exit” button in the right column to apply the cross-linking setup.
Best Practices
-
Be thorough: Select all relevant name variants to ensure your content page links appear on every applicable listing.
-
Keep it updated: Revisit this setting periodically as new listings may use slightly different naming conventions.
-
Take advantage of this for every community content page to improve discoverability.
Troubleshooting Common Issues
Problem: The community name I want to link to isn’t appearing in the dropdown.
Solution: Confirm there’s at least one active listing under that community name. If none exist, you’ll need to wait until one becomes available.
Problem: Only some listings link back to the content page.
Solution: Revisit the cross-linking setup and ensure all name variants for the community were selected.
