How to Link One Content Area to Another with Anchor Tags

Use anchor tags to connect different sections of the same page—ideal for keeping property listings visible while linking to more detailed content.

Why This Feature Matters

Anchor tags improve the user experience by allowing seamless navigation within a single page. This is especially helpful on real estate pages where you want to keep listings near the top while still providing rich, SEO-friendly content below. Linking “Read More” to deeper content enhances page usability without overwhelming users with text upfront.

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Open the Page Editor

Navigate to the page you want to edit in your content management system.

  2. Add Both Content Areas

Ensure the top and bottom content sections are created and populated with the text you want.

  3. Insert the Anchor in the Lower Section

Place your cursor where you want readers to jump to (e.g., just before the line “Pursuing a life…”).

  4. Click the Anchor Icon

This is typically located in the content editor toolbar.

  5. Set the Anchor Name

A popup titled “Insert/Edit Anchor” will appear.

    • Enter: ReadMore (no spaces or special characters)

    • Click Insert

You’ll now see an anchor icon where you placed the cursor.

  6. Create the “Read More” Link in the Top Section

Scroll to the upper content area and type “Read More” (or any preferred text).

  7. Highlight and Link the Text

    • Highlight “Read More”

    • Click the Link icon

  8. Enter the Anchor URL

    • In the Link URL field, type: #ReadMore

    • Click Insert

  9. Save and Preview

Click Save and View to open the page in a new tab and test your anchor link.

Best Practices

  • Keep anchor names short and descriptive—avoid spaces and special characters.

  • Test the link after publishing to ensure it jumps to the correct section.

  • Use sparingly to avoid cluttering your page with too many jumps.
