Table of Contents
Overview
The Sierra Agent Manager and Agent / Team Widget give you full control over how your team appears on your website. These tools allow you to manage agent profiles and agent sites, organize agents using tags, and display them across your content pages in a flexible, customizable way.
With this setup, you can showcase the right agents to the right audiences, highlight each agent’s expertise and local knowledge, and maintain consistent branding throughout your site. You’ll also reduce administrative work by allowing agents to manage their own profiles while keeping your agent sites and subdomains functioning correctly.
This article explains how to use these tools and why they matter for your team’s online presence.
Setup and Configuration
1. Access the Sierra Agent Manager
Who Can Access
- Primary Managers – full access by default
- Manager-level Users – access based on permissions
Only authorized users can modify public-facing agent content, keeping your branding consistent.
How to Access
- Go to the Users dropdown in your admin panel
- Select Agent Sites
If you do not see the Agent Sites option, contact Sierra Support for assistance.
2. Add Agents, Agent Profiles, or Agent Sites
Add an Agent or Agent Site
- Click + Add Agent Site
- Select either New Agent or Existing User Account
- If you select Existing User Account, the agent’s information (such as name and contact details) will auto-populate from their user profile
- Fill in the required information
- Click Save and Exit
⚠️ Important: Only use MLS boards/feeds the User is a member of when selecting "Enable Agent Site Search Tools for" to avoid any compliance problems.
Add a Profile Without a Site
You may also add Profile Only agents to display an agent profile without creating an agent site or subdomain.
- Use + Add Profile if the agent doesn’t need a full subdomain
- These profiles are labeled PROFILE ONLY
Convert a Profile-Only Agent to a Full Agent Site
You can later convert a Profile Only agent to a full agent site by editing the profile and selecting Convert to Agent Site. Agents can start with a simple profile and upgrade to a full site later, preserving all their information.
- Edit a PROFILE ONLY agent
- Select Convert to Agent Site
- Choose to associate an existing user or create a new one
- Remove the random 2-digit number from the URL
- Click Save and Convert
⚠️ Important: If you are creating a new agent site from scratch, you must select a user account to attach it to. Be very careful when choosing an existing user—once the agent site is saved, it is permanently associated with that user and cannot be reassigned later.
3. Organize Agents Using Tags
By default, all agents or agent subdomains display on the About page in alphabetical order. To customize who displays where and in what order you will use tags.
Tags “group” agents for display. Examples:
- Neighborhood specialists
- Buyer agents
- Seller agents
- Teams or subgroups
You can create unlimited tags in Agent Manager → Manage Tags, then apply them within each agent profile.
Step 1: Create Tags
- Go to Agent Manager → Manage Tags
- Click + New Tag → Name → Save
Step 2: Apply Tags
- Open the agent profile, subdomain, or site profile
- Apply the relevant tags
4. Add the Agent / Team Widget to a Content Page
Step 1: Verify Permissions
- Primary Managers can add widgets by default
- Manager- or Agent-level users with either permission enabled:
- Can Author Content Pages and Saved Searches
-
- Can Administer Content Manager (All Pages and Saved Searches)
Ensures only authorized users can control public agent displays.
Step 2: Add the Widget
Make sure relevant agent profiles, agent subdomains, or agent sites are created and tagged in the Sierra Agent Manager. Tags determine which agents appear in the widget.
- Open Content Manager
- Edit an existing page or create a new one
- Click + Add New Page Component
- Select Agents / Team Members
- Choose relevant tag(s)
- Click Submit
Adding this component changes the Page Type to Agents / Team, optimizing the page for agent content.
Step 3: Optional Features
- Add multiple widgets to the same page (e.g., Leadership Team + Buyer Specialists)
- Enable search functionality within the widget
- Sort component order via Sort Page Components
⚠️ Important: To ensure fast page loading, a content page can contain either Active Listings widgets or Agent / Team widgets — not both.
5. Modify Agent Display Settings (Site-Wide)
Follow the below steps to choose how all Agent/ Team widgets appear across your site.
- Go to Agent Manager → Display Settings
- Choose a display style:
|
Style |
Description |
|
Original (Style A) |
Gallery view, list view |
|
Current (Style B) |
Gallery view, list view, plus zoomed-in/out options |
Any changes to display settings apply site-wide, updating all Agent / Team widgets in real time.
6. Required Settings for Agent Subdomains
For agent subdomains or agent sites to function correctly:
- Do not set your homepage to “On Hold.”
- This breaks agent subdomain loading.
- If you don’t want homepage copy, delete it instead.
- Do not change the Homepage Page Filename.
- It must remain /.
- The following sections and filenames must remain on the main site:
|
Section/Page |
Section Name |
Page Filename |
|
Home |
(blank) |
/ |
|
Contact |
contact |
/ |
|
Thank You |
Contact |
thank-you |
If you need to display “Home” in the navigation, edit this in the Section Manager instead of renaming the homepage file.
Best Practices
- Keep Agent Profiles Complete and Updated
Ensure every profile includes a photo, bio, contact information, and Agent/Board ID (if applicable). Complete profiles build trust, improve SEO, and ensure listings display the correct agent information. - Use Tags to Organize Agents Strategically
Create tags that reflect how you want agents to be grouped on your website—such as by team, specialization, neighborhood focus, or role. Tags give you precise control over which agents appear on specific content pages. - Use Multiple Agent / Team Widgets for Flexible Layouts
Add more than one widget to a page when you want to highlight multiple groups (e.g., Buyer Agents + Listing Specialists). It allows you to curate content pages without creating new sections or custom pages. - Confirm Subdomain-Related Settings After Site Changes
If you update the homepage or navigation, confirm required pages and filenames are still intact. Elements directly affect agent subdomains and can prevent them from loading correctly if changed.
Troubleshooting Common Issues
-
I don’t see the Agent Sites option in the Users menu.
This may be due to your configuration or permissions. Contact Sierra Support for assistance. -
Agents are showing in the wrong order on my About page.
- Open the Agent Manager
- Use Change Agent Site Order
- Ensure the page uses an Agent / Team Widget, not the default alphabetical list -
A page won’t let me add both listings and agents.
Content pages can display either Active Listings Widgets or Agent / Team Widgets—not both. Create a new page if you need both types on your site. -
Agents aren’t appearing on the correct content page.
Check tagging in the Sierra Agent Manager. The widget displays agents based on tags, so verify:
- Tags exist
- Tags are applied to the correct agent profiles
- The widget is set to the correct tag -
Agent listings or featured listings aren’t displaying correctly on an agent site.
This is commonly caused by missing or incorrect Featured Listings Information when the agent site is created. When adding or editing an Agent Site, make sure the Agent / Board ID is entered correctly. This ID is used to create the Featured Listings Saved Search for that agent site. From the Agent Site page:
The Agent / Board ID is used to create the Featured Listings saved search for the agent site. This saved search controls which listings appear on the front end site. If an Agent / Board ID is not specified, the Main Site’s Office ID is used instead. If listings are not appearing as expected:
- Confirm the Agent / Board ID is populated
- Verify the Featured Listings Saved Search exists and is using the correct ID
- Check Global Site Settings to ensure featured listings are configured to display the listing agent’s information
