Unlock Website Insights with Google Analytics
Discover how visitors interact with your Sierra Interactive IDX website. Connect Google Analytics (GA4) to measure traffic sources, user behavior, and lead generation funnels.
Why This Feature Matters
As a real estate professional, your website is one of your most valuable assets, and sometimes it's hard to know what's working. You might wonder: Where are my visitors coming from? Which pages do they spend the most time on? And most importantly, which activities are actually turning into leads?
Connecting Google Analytics (GA4) to your Sierra Interactive site removes the guesswork. It provides a clear view of your website's performance, allowing you to make data-driven decisions that save you time and generate more qualified leads. By understanding user behavior, you can optimize your content, refine your marketing campaigns, and focus on what truly drives business growth.

Step-by-Step Instructions
Step 1: Create a New Google Analytics 4 (GA4) Property
-
Log in to your Google Analytics account.
-
Navigate to Admin (gear icon, lower left).
-
Under “Property,” click Create Property and complete the prompts.
-
Create a Web Data Stream when prompted.
-
Copy the Measurement ID (format: G-XXXXXXXXXX).
-
Go to your Sierra CRM → Gear Icon → Integrations → Google Analytics
-
Paste your Measurement ID in the provided field.
⚠️ Only the Measurement ID is needed, do not paste the full GA script.
Step 2: Configure Events and Conversions
GA4 treats every interaction as an event. You want GA4 to treat key user actions (like form submissions) as conversions.
-
In GA4, go to Engagement → Events
- Find the event you want to track (for example,
lead_submitor another custom event). - Click the star icon next to it to mark it as a conversion (GA4 handles conversions via starred events in the Events list).
For more information, visit here.
GA4 may also auto-suggest events based on your setup; you can enable those suggested events as conversions if useful.
Verify your data using GA4's Debug view.
Best Practices
Connecting your account is just the beginning. Use these best practices to gather data that helps you grow your business.
Measure Key Conversion Goals
Only use one GA property on your Sierra site. Avoid duplicate tracking by keeping a single GA4 property attached to your Sierra site.
Set up goals in Google Analytics to measure valuable user actions. For example, create a goal to track every time a visitor completes a "Contact Us" form or signs up for your newsletter. This helps you measure your site's lead generation effectiveness directly.
Analyze Your Traffic Sources
Regularly check the "Acquisition" reports to see where your traffic comes from (e.g., organic search, social media, paid ads). If you see that your blog is bringing in a lot of organic traffic, double down on your content marketing efforts.
Focus on User Engagement
Identify which pages have the highest engagement. These are the pages where users spend the most time. Replicate the style and content of these successful pages across your site to keep visitors engaged longer and guide them toward becoming a lead.
Troubleshooting Common Issues
⚠️GTM is not supported on Sierra sites, use native GA integration only.
- GA not recording conversions
- Verify you used the Measurement ID, not the GA4 Property ID.
- Confirm the event is correctly firing and starred in GA4.
- Allow up to 24–48 hours for GA4 to begin showing event/conversion data.
- You pasted full GA script into your site
Remove full script. Sierra requires only the Measurement ID via Integrations
