Sierra Group Text: Send Group Messages to Multiple Leads and Team Members

Use Group Text in Sierra to simplify communications between leads, clients, and team members in a single shared thread.

Why This Feature Matters

Real estate professionals often need to message spouses, lenders, partners, or investors simultaneously. Group Text lets you create a single thread where everyone sees and replies to the same messages—saving time and reducing communication errors. It’s ideal for lead introductions, partner collaboration, and managing investor updates.

 


 

Step-by-Step Instructions

 

 

Requirements to Use Group Text

 

 

  • Group Text is only available to clients on the Growth Package.

  • Any user with a connected Dialer and a personal Dialer number assigned can send group texts.

    Manage personal numbers in: Dialer Settings → Personal Numbers

 

 


 

 

Sending a Group Text Message

 

 

  1. Go to the Lead Detail Page

  2. Navigate to the Text tab

  3. Click the [+] button to add additional phone numbers

  4. Use the three tabs in the overlay to add participants:

     

    • Leads: Add the lead, their secondary number, Linked Leads, or manually input a new number

    • Team: Add other Sierra users with personal Dialer numbers

    • Selected: View/edit who’s included in the message

     

  5. Click “Add to Message”

  6. Compose your message and click Send Text

 

 


 

 

Optional Features

 

 

  • Insert Listings

    You can insert a property listing into a group message, but recipients won’t be auto-logged in as they would be in 1:1 messages.

  • Attach Photos or Videos

    Group texts support media attachments (MMS format).

  • Name a Group

    After creating a group, give it a name for easier reference. Names are visible in the lead’s communication history and inbox.

 

 


 

Best Practices

 

  • Use groups to introduce multiple parties (e.g., buyer + lender)

  • Name recurring groups (e.g., “Hollow Creek Investors”)

  • Quickly add participants using the Team, Leads, and Linked Leads tabs

  • Max group size: 10 numbers total, including your own

 

 


 

Troubleshooting Common Issues

 

Problem: Can’t send a group text

Solution: Ensure you have a personal Dialer number assigned and are on the Growth Package.

 

Problem: Group message stuck in “Queued” status

Solution: Recreate the group using a different participant order. Then contact support@sierrainteractive.com with the details.

 

Problem: Can’t archive in Manager View

Solution: Group texts must be archived individually by each participant before archiving from Manager View.

Q: What’s the difference between Group Text and Mass Text?

A:

 

  • Mass Text = Sends the same message to multiple leads individually (like BCC in email)

  • Group Text = One shared thread where all recipients can see and respond (like CC in email)

 

 

Q: Can I send group texts from the mobile app?

A: Yes. Use the lead detail page and tap the ellipsis (…) > “Send Group Text (Beta)”

 

Q: What does GMMS mean?

A: GMMS = Group MMS, the technical term for group text messages.

 

Q: How is Group Text billed?

A: Each outbound recipient = 1 MMS charge. One inbound group text = 1 inbound MMS (regardless of participant count).
