Using the Dialer to Place a Call to a Lead

Make and log outbound phone calls to your leads directly from Sierra using the integrated browser-based dialer or your connected phone.

Why This Feature Matters

Calling leads through the Sierra Dialer helps you:

 

  • Easily access lead details while on a call

  • Keep all communication history centralized

  • Save time by calling through your browser or linked phone

  • Automatically log call recordings and notes in one step

 

 

Step-by-Step Instructions

 

1. Enable the Sierra Dialer

Before making calls, ensure:

 

  • The Sierra Dialer is enabled for your team/account

  • You are connected to the Dialer at the individual user level

 

 

2. Access the Lead’s Contact Info

 

  • In the Admin area, click Leads in the top navigation bar

  • Locate the lead you want to call and click on their phone number

 

 

3. Choose Your Calling Method

A pop-up menu will appear with the following options:

 

  • Call via Browser – Use this if you have a headset connected to your computer

  • Call via [Your Connected Phone Number] – Sierra will call your number first, then connect you to the lead once you answer

  • Add to Call List – Add this lead to a call list for sequential calls

  • Send Text Message – Text the lead using your Sierra Dialer number

 

 

4. Review Lead Details During the Call

When the call starts, you’ll be taken to the Lead Detail Page, where you can view:

 

  • Previous call or text history

  • Notes and tasks

  • Properties viewed or saved

  • Active searches and saved alerts

 

 

5. Log the Call After It Ends

Once the call concludes, a Log Call overlay will appear.

You can:

 

  • Record call outcome notes

  • Check the box to Save the call recording (enabled by default)

  • Click Log Call to save everything to the lead’s history

 

 

Best Practices

 

  • Use Call via Browser for speed and multitasking while on your desktop

  • Take 10 seconds before a call to skim the lead’s most recent activity

  • Always log your calls immediately to keep your CRM records accurate

  • Save call recordings for compliance or training purposes

 

 

Troubleshooting Common Issues

 

Issue: Unable to initiate a call

Solution: Confirm both the team and user-level Dialer connections are active

 

Issue: Call not connecting to lead

Solution: Make sure your linked phone number is up to date and reachable
