Using the Dialer to Send a Text to a Lead

Send text messages to leads directly through the Sierra Dialer, with full message tracking and history.

Using the Sierra Dialer to send texts allows you to:

 

  • Communicate instantly with leads via SMS

  • Track all incoming and outgoing messages in one thread

  • Protect your personal number by using your Dialer number as the caller ID

 

 

Step-by-Step Instructions

 

1. Enable the Sierra Dialer

Before sending texts, confirm:

 

  • The Sierra Dialer is enabled for your team/account

  • You are connected to the Dialer at the individual user level

 

 

2. Send a Text from the Lead Dashboard

 

  • Go to Leads in the top menu of the Admin area

  • Locate the lead you want to message

 

 

Option A:

 

  • In the Phone Status column, click the link labeled “__ Texts

  • A pop-up will show your text history with the lead

  • Click Send Text to compose and send your message

 

 

Option B:

 

  • Click the plus icon next to the lead’s name

  • Select Send Text Message from the action menu

 

 

Option C:

 

  • Open the Lead Detail Page

  • Click the Text Msg button located at the top-right of the blue lead box

 

 

3. Write and Send Your Message

 

  • Enter your text in the message field

  • Click Send

  • All messages will appear in the lead’s communication history and message thread

 

 

How Replies Work

 

  • When a lead replies, the message:

     

    • Is received via the Sierra Dialer number

    • Is matched to the lead in your system

    • Appears in your text thread and is forwarded to your linked phone

    • Includes the lead’s name and a link to view their profile

  • Keep initial texts short and clear to encourage a response

  • Use templates to save time on commonly sent messages

  • Respond promptly when a lead replies—text threads update in real time

Issue: Can’t send a text

Solution: Ensure your user account is connected to the Sierra Dialer

Solution: Only your Sierra Dialer number will appear—verify your Dialer settings if not

No. All texts and calls use your Sierra Dialer number. Your personal info stays private.
