 Step-by-Step Instructions:

1. Add a Photo

  • Go to "Site Layout Settings" by clicking the gear icon.
  • Select the "Primary Photo/Search" tab.
  • Upload your new image in .jpg format (recommended size: 1900px wide x 560px tall).
  • Choose your "Background Vertical Position" (Top, Center, or Bottom).
  • Click "SAVE" to update your homepage background.

 

2. Add a Video

  • Go to "Site Layout Settings" by clicking the gear icon.
  • Select the "Primary Photo/Search" tab.
  • Copy the URL of your desired YouTube or Vimeo video.
  • For YouTube, paste the URL into the "Video URL" field.
  • For Vimeo (Pro or Business account required), copy the "High-def" link after enabling the loop setting, then paste it into the "Video URL" field.
  • Choose your "Background Vertical Position" (Top, Center, or Bottom).
  • Click "SAVE" to update your homepage with the looping video.

 

Best Practices

  • Ensure your image is high-quality and fits the recommended dimensions to avoid stretching or distortion.
  • If adding a video, Vimeo offers better quality and fewer branding distractions compared to YouTube.
  • Always choose the background position that best complements your website’s layout.

  • Keep in mind that videos will not display on mobile devices, so ensure the photo works well as a fallback. 

Troubleshooting Common Issues

  • Issue: Video doesn’t display on mobile devices.
    • Solution: Due to restrictions from video providers, videos are not supported on mobile. A photo will display instead.
  • Issue: My image is stretched or distorted.
    • Solution: Ensure your photo meets the recommended dimensions of 1900px wide by 560px tall. Use resizeimage.net if needed to adjust your photo's size.

    • Currently, only videos hosted on YouTube or Vimeo are supported. For best results, upload to one of these platforms.
  • Does the background photo or video work on all devices?
    • Background images will display on all devices, but videos are only shown on desktop versions of the site.
