Why This Feature Matters

Sierra automatically syncs listing data from your MLS® feed on a recurring schedule, but changes you make in the MLS® — new photos, a price adjustment, a status update — may not appear on your website immediately. A manual refresh pulls the latest MLS® data for a specific listing on demand, so you can:

  • Correct a price on your website right away after it changes in the MLS®, so buyers never see outdated numbers.
  • Update listing photos before sharing a property on social media or in marketing emails.
  • Keep your own listings looking polished and current, which protects your professional reputation with both buyers and sellers.

Before You Begin

  • The listing must already appear in your Featured Listings before you can refresh it. If it doesn't, follow the import steps below first.
  • Make sure the change you're expecting (photo, price, detail edit) has already been saved and published in the MLS® itself. Sierra can only pull data the MLS® has made available.

Step-by-Step Instructions

Import a Listing That Isn't in Your CRM Yet

If the listing doesn't appear in Featured Listings, import it first:import_new_listing

  1. Log in to your Sierra Client Admin Area.
  2. Click Listings in the main navigation. You'll land on the Featured Listings page.
  3. Click Import New Listing.
  4. Select your MLS® Region (if applicable).
  5. Enter the MLS® number and select the Listing Type.
  6. Click Submit.
  7. Allow 5–10 minutes for the listing to process and appear.

Refresh the Listing

  1. From the Featured Listings page, locate the listing. Use the Search by MLS® # field if you manage many listings.
  2. In the Action column on the right, click the green refresh icon.refresh_listing
  3. In the confirmation overlay, click Yes to start the refresh.force_refresh
  4. Wait for the refresh to process — typically 5–10 minutes. Once complete, your website displays the updated photos and listing details.

Best Practices

  • Refresh a listing right after you make photo or detail changes in the MLS®, rather than waiting to notice the discrepancy later.
  • Verify the MLS® number before importing as an incorrect number can pull in the wrong property.
  • Reserve manual refreshes for time-sensitive updates. Routine changes will sync automatically, and unnecessary refreshes add system load.
  • After the refresh completes, spot-check the listing on your live website (not just in the CRM) to confirm the update is visible to visitors.

Troubleshooting Common Issues

  • The listing doesn't appear in Featured Listings.
Use Import New Listing and confirm the MLS® Region, Listing Type, and MLS® number are all entered correctly.
  • The listing still hasn't updated 10+ minutes after refreshing.
Reload the page or clear your browser cache, you may be viewing a cached version of the listing. If the data is still outdated, confirm the change is live in the MLS® itself, then contact Sierra Support.
  • Listing details updated, but photos still look old.
Photos can take longer to propagate than text data. Wait a bit longer and try a hard refresh of the listing page.

FAQs

  • Can I refresh multiple listings at once?
No, refreshes are processed one listing at a time.
  • Will a manual refresh delete or override custom changes I made in the CRM?
No. The refresh only pulls updated data and photos from the MLS® feed.
  • How often does Sierra sync with the MLS® automatically?
Automatic syncs run multiple times per day, so most changes appear on your website without any action on your part. A manual refresh is for when you need the update immediately.
  • Why isn't my change showing up even after a refresh?
Sierra can only display data the MLS® has published. If your change is still pending in the MLS®, refresh again once it's live there.
