Why This Feature Matters

Leads who don't speak English as a first language convert better when they can browse your site comfortably in their own language. Sierra makes this possible by letting you serve a translated version of any page through a URL code, and it does more than translate the page: it automatically flags the lead's language preference so your team can respond appropriately from the first touch.

With this feature, you can:

  • Give leads a seamless, native-language browsing experience
  • Increase conversion by removing a language barrier at the point of registration
  • Route leads to agents who speak their language, automatically
  • Trigger language-specific auto-responses, texts, voicemails, and Action Plans

Before You Begin

  • This feature works by appending a language code to any page URL. It does not change your site's default language, and there is no site-wide language switcher; leads reach translated pages only through a link you provide.
  • The language tag is applied automatically only when a lead registers while viewing a translated URL. Leads who browse a translated page but don't register won't be tagged.
  • You'll get the most value from this feature if your Lead Routing rules, auto-responders, and Action Plans are already set up, since language tags are what make those tools language-aware.

Step-by-Step Instructions

1. Translate Your Site Using a URL Code

To display any page of your site in a different language, append the language code to the end of the page URL using this format:

https://www.YourSite.com/#/lang-[language code]

Example (Spanish): https://www.BestRealEstateSiteEver.com/#/lang-es

Share these translated links directly with leads, on social media, in ads, or anywhere else you'd share a standard page link.

Supported Languages and Codes
Language Code
English en
Spanish es
French fr
Italian it
German de
Russian ru
Vietnamese vi
Chinese zh-CN
Korean ko
Japanese ja
Portuguese pt

2. Automatic Tagging and Notes for Leads

When a lead registers while viewing a translated version of your site, Sierra handles the labeling for you:

  • A language tag (for example, "Spanish") is automatically added to the lead's profile, using the same tagging system covered in Tags Manager: Adding, Editing, and Organizing Lead Tags
  • A Note appears under the lead's History in the CRM: "This lead registered while using the translate feature to display the site in [Language Name]."

No manual tagging is required.

3. Route Leads Based on Language Tags

Once a lead carries a language tag, put it to work:

Best Practices

  • Keep a saved reference list of your translated URLs for each supported language so you can grab the right link quickly
  • Build a Lead Routing rule for every language tag you actively support.
  • Prepare auto-responder, text, and voicemail scripts in each supported language ahead of time, so language-based routing has something to send
  • Brief your multilingual agents on how tagged leads show up in their queue; language tags behave like any other pipeline tag described in Using Lead Statuses and Tags to Organize Your Pipeline, so nothing gets missed

Troubleshooting Common Issues

  • The page isn't displaying in the selected language.
Confirm the URL ends in #/lang-[correct code] exactly, with no spaces, typos, or extra characters.

  • A lead wasn't tagged with a language.
Confirm the lead registered (submitted contact details) while actively viewing a translated page. Browsing a translated page without registering won't apply a tag.

FAQs

  • Can I change the default language of my site?
No. Your site's default language stays as configured, but you can link to translated versions of any page using the language code URL format.

  • Do I need to manually add the language tag to a lead?
No. The tag is applied automatically the moment a lead registers through a translated URL.

  • Can I use language tags in Action Plans or drip campaigns?
Yes. Language tags can be used as a trigger condition to route leads into language-specific Action Plans or drip campaigns.

  • Does this translate emails, texts, or voicemails automatically?
No. Translation applies only to site pages via the URL code. Auto-responses, texts, and voicemails in other languages need to be written and assigned manually using the language tag as the trigger.
